The Fair Housing Center (FHC) works to actively enforce federal, state and local laws that ban housing discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex, disability, familial status (children), age and marital status, sexual orientation, student status and source of income.
Supporting the Fair Housing Center is a good investment in justice. Since 1992 the FHC has helped complainants file more than 70 lawsuits and recover over $1,700,000 in damages. These settlements keep the message clear — housing discrimination is illegal and expensive.
The Fair Housing Center is the only local organization that provides the kind of investigative services (testing) that result in meaningful settlements for victims of housing discrimination.
